  • Clare's story from PNG

    Clare, 27, lives in the remote Southern Highlands of Papua New Guinea (PNG), an area rich in oil and gas, with a history of tribal fighting and natural disasters.

    Caritas Australia is working with the local communities to increase confidence in and utilisation of existing health services.

    "I have been working the past three years at Det Health Centre," says Clare. "In the mornings I do a ward round then help the out-patients, the maternity ward, and with administration and weeding the gardens. The biggest health problem is malaria – that can cause complications, especially with anemia,” Clare explains. Read Clare's story  »»
  • Caritas swings into action in Chile

    Chile disaster reliefCaritas in Chile is already delivering assistance in some of the worst affected areas of Chile following the massive earthquake of Saturday 27 February.

    “The magnitude and depth of the catastrophe which has affected the poorest regions of the country will require the support of Caritas members in Latin America and worldwide. Above all, hope is needed among our suffering people, ” says Caritas Chile Director Lorenzo Figueroa.
