What's it all about?

Caritas Australia, at the inspiration of Oscar Romero is calling Australians to aspire not to have more but to BE MORE. The Be More Challenge is aimed at tackling global poverty and injustice by ‘doing’ justice.

We live in a world where living justly and fairly means we have to think, feel and act.

  • How can it be that Australians spend an average of $893 per week on goods and services whilst others in the world and in our own country suffer extreme poverty, with many in the world living on less then $2 a day?
  • How can it be that the richest nations, like Australia, have contributed 77% of the total historic greenhouse pollution yet other nations like our neighbours in the Pacific are suffering the affects of climate change?
  • How can it be that 97% of Australian children are enrolled in primary school yet nearly one billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names?

These are injustices that are big and difficult to solve but we can do something about all of these and much more.

The Be More Challenge encourages Australians to be agents of change. We have the power and we can make the world better.

Sign-up to create a profile page and set your 5 challenges; personal, family, local, national and global. By setting and completing your challenges you can take action to make a real difference in your world.

How will you be more just, be more aware, be more giving, be more together, be more green, be more loving and ultimately be more human?
