Become a Caritas Be More Ambassador!

In 2010 Caritas Australia will be running a pilot program across Western Australia, to train young people as Caritas Be More Ambassadors.

Who can be a Caritas Be More Ambassador?

Anyone who:
- is passionate about social justice
- enjoys networking with people
- is able to speak in front of a variety of audiences
- wants to learn how to be an activist/advocate for change!

Applicants must be:
- between the ages of 18 – 30;
- living in Western Australia;
- willing to volunteer time to promote the work of Caritas, especially the concept and actions of the Be More Challenge in your local area.

What do Caritas Be More Ambassadors do?

Be More Ambassadors are people who are willing to commit time and energy in promoting the Be More Challenge in their local area and through their networks.

Caritas Be More Ambassadors will:

- Attend and actively participate in the Caritas Be More Ambassador training program;

- Register as a member on the Be More website and actively use the website;

- Organise a minimum of 2 (one per semester) promotion/awareness raising events (one of these with a fundraising component) e.g. Photo exhibition, forum/debate, Be More Weekend event, etc.;

- Speak in schools, parishes, universities, workplaces etc about the Be More Challenge (in consultation with local Caritas staff);

- Promote the Be More Weekend and encourage schools, parishes, community groups, local councils, workplaces etc to register for the weekend;

- Represent Caritas Australia, in consultation with local Caritas staff, for example - Stand Up, Parliamentary launch, forums etc;

- Identify events/festivals to run stalls at to promote the Be More Challenge;

- Attend quarterly meetings of Caritas Be More Ambassadors in your area.

The range of ways in which a Be More Ambassador can be involved, either individually or in conjunction with others, is solely limited by your imagination!

What is the training program and when will it take place?

The training program is a 2 day course that is tailored for Caritas Be More Ambassadors to equip them with the skills and knowledge to fulfil their role. The course will take place in Perth from Friday evening 7 May through to Sunday afternoon 9 May 2010. More details regarding the training coming soon.
