Have a HAART

In the last year more than 292,000 children died of diseases related to HIV – that is 800 children every single day.

Despite much talk and action on HIV, the needs of children are still neglected.

Have a HAART and urge the Australian Pharmaceutical Company Roche to commit to developing Anti Retro-Viral medications appropriate for children.
 

Sydney Stop Global Poverty petition

Email Lord Mayor Clover Moore to ask the City of Sydney Council to hang a 'Stop Global Poverty' road sign in Sydney's CBD declaring our city's commitment to the Millennium Development Goals.

5th Birthday Action

Last year, 8.8 million children died before their 5th Birthday, most from easily preventable causes. For example, 22% of these children died from diarrhoea and 21% from pneumonia. So we want to make sure these issues stay on the minds of our leaders this year.

The 5th Birthday Action is a chance for you and your community to encourage our Government to do its fair share towards making sure that every child possible can celebrate a 5th Birthday.

Nestle - A good life for who?

We all know chocolate tastes good but do we know where these dark, smooth, taste-bud delights comes from?
You might not know that nearly half the world's chocolate is made from cocoa grown in the Cote D'Ivoire (or Ivory Coast in English), Africa. However unless you've been hiding under a giant chocolate, you probably do know that much of this cocoa is not farmed under fair conditions.
Thousands of children are trafficked and enslaved on cocoa farms, particularly in West Africa. One way the chocolate remains cheap is that 'farmers' save money on labour costs (slaves get minimal to no wages) and can therefore afford to sell their cocoa at a cheaper, more competitive rate. When we buy chocolate we are being forced to support this situation.  Now is the time to increase our pressure on chocolate companies. Let your favourite chocolate company know that you want your chocolate guilt-free and that you'll be eating Fairtrade.
