| Humanity, if it truly desires peace, must be increasingly conscious of the links between natural ecology, or respect for nature, and human ecology. Experience shows that disregard for the environment always harms human coexistence, and vice versa. It becomes more and more evident that there is an inseparable link between peace with creation and peace among people. | |||

Significant changes in the climate are being caused by large amounts of carbon dioxide (C02) and other greenhouse polluting gases being released into our atmosphere. The biggest source of greenhouse pollution is burning fossil fuels (like coal and oil) for energy.
Climate change means that there will be more droughts and more flooding. There will be less ice and snow. There will be more extreme weather conditions such as heat waves and storms.
Fact 1: Developing countries – who have contributed the least to carbon emissions – are and will suffer the worst consequences of climate change.
Fact 2: The World Bank has found that if the minimum predictions for climate change come true, at least 25% of its current development projects will be affected by the impacts of climate change.
Fact 3: Climate change refugees, who will be forced to leave their country because of irreversible environmental degradation or land loss due to climate change, constitute one of the greatest challenges for the international community in relation to climate change.
Fact 4: Australia is the greatest emitter in the world of greenhouse gasses per capita.
