Your right to privacy, confidentially and data security is recognised as very important to Caritas Australia and we are committed to protecting your personal information.

What does this privacy policy cover?
This Privacy Policy covers Caritas Australia's treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect when you are on the Be More website, or on a site powered by our technology.

Information we collect
Caritas Australia collects personally identifiable information when you sign up as a Be More member and when you sign up for Be a Voice alerts.

When you sign-up with Be More, we ask for your name, email address, city, state, postcode and country, as well as other optional information. Once you complete the registration process with Be More this information is retained securely by Caritas Australia.

Member passwords are never divulged to third parties.

All information is kept in secure databases on our protected servers. We do not retain hard copies of our member or donor information.

Why does Caritas Australia collect personal information?
Caritas Australia collects personal information principally to allow us to send you opportunities to participate in the Be More Challenge and other related campaigns such as Be a Voice.

In addition, your information may be used to identify your location (eg electorate, state) and provide targeted and relevant opportunities for you to be part of our activities.

We will also collect personal information for security and verification reasons when accepting donations.

Your responsibilities - Editing your information and privacy settings
Be More participants control the content and material they post on their profile page. Caritas Australia takes no responsibility for what Be More Challengers publish in their though we will make every attempt to rectify any problems brought to our attention at the nearest opportunity.

As a member, the Be More website gives you the ability to edit your personal information and set the privacy settings for personal and group profile pages at any time. For under 16 year old members the responsibility of setting profile privacy settings lies with the parent/guardian.  It is up to you as a registered participant to take all appropriate care to ensure that you are happy with the information that is displayed to the public about you.

You are not permitted to post personal information about third parties on your profile page without their prior consent. This includes any names, personal contact data, photographs or other identifying characteristics.

Information to other organisations
Caritas Australia will not provide your personal information to any other organisation except where necessary eg to verify credit card transactions or as required by law.

We will never sell, trade or exchange your information without your express permission.

When you send an email through the Be More site, such as to a newspaper or Member of Parliament, the email will include your email address and full name. When you sign a petition, we may publish your name, town, postcode and/or state, but not your email or physical address.

We'll make all reasonable efforts to store your information safely and securely. When you donate online using credit card facilities, that information is encrypted before being sent using SSL certificates.

Caritas Australia may amend our pivacy policy periodically. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personal information we will notify you.
